Our Story

 

1. Origin: Discovery in Fragmentation

On Christmas Eve 1998, six-year-old Jocelyn, listening to her parents argue over a fishing bankruptcy, fled barefoot to the beach she knew best. The sand was cold at low tide, and a hard, raised object pinched her foot - the remnants of a shell half-buried in the sand. Breaking open the shell, which had holes etched into it by the seawater, a pea-sized pearl clung to a membrane of dried flesh, covered with a spider web of cracks, as if the broken quarrels and the salty sea air were sealed in this imperfect pearl.

In that moment, she realized that pearls are not born perfect, but are birthed from hurt.

 

 

2. Growing Up: Exploring Through Time

For the next twenty years, Jocelyn experienced a journey with pearls. She moved around the pearl factories in Manila, witnessing the transformation of pearls from rough to shiny. She joined a salvage team that retrieved pearls from the sea floor that had been buried over the years. She also traveled deep into the nurseries of various countries to explore the mystery of the birth of pearls.

 

She discovered that pearls are the most honest “liars” - the process of oysters wrapping up the invaders with pain is just like human beings nourishing their growth with scars, and every pearl carries an unknown story.

 

 

3. Revelation: the legacy of a story

On a seaside expedition, Jocelyn found a rusted wedding ring stuck in an oyster shell, with “Till the tide forgets” engraved inside the band. After struggling to find the owner, she pressed the ring into her palm and said, “It's time for someone to take our story to a higher place.”

 

At this moment, Luna realized that pearls are not only witnesses of time, but also bearers of stories.

 

 

4. Lunastrea: Brand and Philosophy

Thus, Lunastrea was born. The name, a blend of “Luna” and “strea”, symbolizes the birth of the pearl in the light of the moon and the tides, and also signifies the ebb and flow of life.

Inspired by pearls, Lunastrea designs simple yet sophisticated jewelry, using high quality pearls to make each piece stand the test of time. We believe that every experience in life, whether sad or happy, is worth cherishing. Pearls never filter the type of story, but rather coalesce all the dips and dives of time into a magnificent chapter of life.
